This antique fireplace set has the earthy palette and understated geometry associated with the Arts and Crafts and Craftsman movements, with richly mottled, matte glazes that give each tile its own character.
The surround is composed of rectangular tiles in olive green, brown, charcoal, and muted red. Their subtle color variations and textured, aged surfaces suit the honest materials and natural tones central to Arts and Crafts interiors.
The matching hearth arranges the same mottled tiles in horizontal bands, framed by classic encaustic tiles. The combination of earthy colors, simple lines, and varied glazes makes this a distinctive choice for a Craftsman fireplace or an Arts and Crafts restoration.
