These monumental French tile panels, believed to be produced by reknowned ceramics house Sarreguemines at the turn of the 20th century, measure 31 × 63 inches each.
They feature Regency England courtship scenes, a common theme for tiles of this era. The glaze features rich and subtle hues alike, with impeccable, even crazing across the surfaces.
One tile is missing from the first panel, and there are several chips and flea bites, common for tiles of this age. We work with several ceramics artisans who can make a replacement tile and repairs, please ask for their contact information.
The provenance on these tiles is impressive. They came from the estate of legendar music executive Seymour Stein, the co-founder of Sire records and the man who famously signed acts like Madonna, The Talking Heads, Depeche Mode, and The Ramones, among many others.
