Every so often, we stumble upon a collection that stops us in our tracks. This is one of those moments.

Tucked away in the dusty backroom of a long-shuttered San Francisco tile shop, we discovered a cache of over 2,000 vintage pencil tiles—each one new old stock (NOS), still wrapped in its original paper, and never installed. It’s the kind of find we dream about: pristine condition, charming patterns, and bright, vibrant glazes that haven’t dulled with time.

These historic pencil tiles span 12 unique styles, from classic red-on-cream ribbons to playful florals in citrus yellow, mint green, and rose pink. Whether you're framing a fireplace, edging a backsplash, or adding a pop of period-appropriate detail to a bathroom or entryway, these pencil tiles bring the past to life—without sacrificing functionality. Every piece has been carefully inspected, cleaned, and is ready for installation.
